This revision is based on the Pre-University
Education Standards for Foreigners Studying in China (Trial Version) published in 2024. Knowledge points have been added to make the teaching
content more comprehensive and complete. New chapters include: equilibrium of
concurrent forces, moment of force, curvilinear motion, projectile motion,
mechanical unit system, overweight and weightlessness, the law of universal
gravitation, molecular current hypothesis, motion of charged particles in a
magnetic field, self-induction, alternating current, physical quantities
characterizing alternating current, transformer principle, lenses, interference
and diffraction of light, spectra and spectral analysis, photoelectric effect
and photons, wave-particle duality of light, Bohr model, atomic nucleus, etc.
Xiao Lifeng, the editor, is a teacher at the School of
Science, Tianjin University, specializing in optics. He obtained his doctoral
degree in optical engineering from Tianjin University in 2007 and has been
teaching at the university ever since. For many years, he has been engaged in
teaching physics to pre-college and undergraduate international students of
science and engineering under the Chinese Government Scholarship Program.
This textbook is mainly intended for international
students studying in China and teachers in pre-college programs. It requires
students to have a basic Chinese proficiency (elementary level) and can be
taught in approximately 96 class hours.
